Product Management Business Analyst
The business analyst role within Direct Response Technologies is a critical one in that it aids in the creation of the future products and enhancements, which will ultimately drive future divisional revenue growth.
Primary Functions Include:
- Business Specification Writing (Definition): To excel at this role, the business analyst needs to have intimate product and industry knowledge in order to create and drive the most effective features and projects. This knowledge will be demonstrated by being able to mold the vision of the feature and/or project either suggested by Product Manager or client into a deliverable that will require no re–work due to lack of knowledge or vision.
- Business Specification Writing (Format and Content): The BA will deliver, in a timely manner, easily understandable and detailed business specifications, which require limited updates from Product Management or development. Another key component of the expectation is that these business specifications leave no functional questions to the discretion of the development team (i.e., development should have to ask no questions or make any interface decisions once they begin their work)
- DRT Project Management Process: The Business Analyst is the driver of all projects within the division and, as such, it is critical that each phase of the project management process be followed and the deadlines and delivery dates that are inherent within each of the phases be recorded in monitored. Therefore, the Business Analyst is required to schedule and manage all of procedural meetings for which they are responsible
- Project Management: Due to the deep product and industry knowledge required for this role, when the occasion arises that DRT has major client–driven customization projects the Business Analyst will take a lead project management role which will make them responsible for not just project definition but also such items as deadline management, client management and project training and deployment. This item will be measured by ability to meet deadlines and achieve functional deliverables.
The ideal candidate will also have or be ready to move into a Product Manager role with some of the additional responsibilities:
- Development road map definition
- Business spec definition and management
- Functional release oversight and bug fix prioritizing to ensure that development resources are properly aligned.
